Board members are encouraged to attend both state and national training and conference opportunities on a rotating basis, so that all members have an opportunity to attend. It is recommended that members commit to opportunities early to facilitate planning and reduce expenses.
GRPL adheres to the following transportation/accommodation expense and reimbursement limits:
- National conferences: $1,500
- In-state conferences: $500
These amounts do not include the cost of registration, which will be paid in addition to travel expenses. The library has budgeted an amount of $1,000 per board member and will inform board members of early registration deadlines in anticipation that board members will try to meet those deadlines whenever possible to reduce costs.
Board Member Conference Registration Procedure:
- Complete the form notifying staff that you would like to attend a conference. If you need library assistance please contact Briana Trudell via phone: 616-988-5435 or email: btrudell@grpl.org.
- To reconcile your expenses upon returning submit all receipts to Briana Trudell. For meal expenses labels the tops of receipts with meal at the top. You must submit itemized receipts for your meals or we cannot reimburse you. The City will not reimburse expenses for alcoholic beverages.
- Staff will then process the reimbursement and a check will be sent to you within two to three weeks.
